Proper minutes: A shared folder has been created on archstud/Tudor called City School Live Project
JR – pointed out that a project at the City School is shown in ‘Joined up design for schools’ by the Sorrell Foundation, which showcases work down with pupils working with well known architects to create better social spaces in schools
CW – said he’d found that there are costings available on the CABE website stating that 5% of total costs are available for ‘sustainable measures’- a good point to consider with contractors’ money interests - it was drawn from this that a lot of the guidelines are already in place
RGH - possibility mentioned of educating students about green design – working with students *
At this point the group brainstormed the project – diagram on studio wall *
Consultation was discussed – this is mentioned in CABE/BSF documentation but not focused upon. – eg the 10 point guide to good schools - BSF schools built so far have been seen as experimental – will take time to learn from experience
ZL – a blog about green roofs – suggestion that we could visit a green roofed school - can look at case studies and how things have worked in the past It was discussed that there appear to be two strands to our discussion (see diagram) – one of which is school based and the other policy based
A trip to Heely City Farm after out trip to the school was discussed.
